WORK IN SKATEBOARDING

Work in Skateboarding was created in 2012 with support from the skateboarding community in order to promote skateboarding and its career opportunities to potential future generations.

Their main goal is to make this knowledge available to everyone who is interested and passionate about pursuing a career in skateboarding, opening up the industry to reveal the diversity of the opportunities available.

The long term goal of the website is to develop into a video library that can be used by kids, parents, teachers, youth organizations and anyone else who will use this information in a positive way to benefit themselves or others by being able to make informed decisions about the career opportunities in skateboarding.

As the designer for these editorials, I drew inspiration from my past experiences reading skateboard magazines. You’re treated to a visual feast, flipping through the pages and trying to digest the imagery and type. Skateboard culture is highly expressive so my intent for these editorials was to match that expressiveness through type, color, and allowing the photography to be it’s own story-telling focal point on the page. The intent was to make skateboard culture seep out of every page of these editorials, letting the reader feel the energy.
